Rockridge Summer Camp Information

The Rockridge School Board approved the following summer camps at its regular meeting on March 12th. Please contact the coach listed via email by clicking on his/her name if you have questions about specific camps. Camp registration forms will also be added to this page as they are made available by the coaches. They will be available by clicking on the name of the sport/activity.

Important Information Regarding Norovirus

Dear Parent,

Recently we have noticed students with vomiting and diarrhea. The Illinois Department of Public Health Communicable Disease Control Section defines an outbreak in a school as a cluster of 4 or more persons with symptoms in a single day. Norovirus outbreaks are common in schools in the fall and/or winter months.

Norovirus is the most common virus that causes Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE) in humans. Along with the onset of vomiting or diarrhea, other symptoms include nausea, abdominal cramps, low-grade fever, and body aches. Norovirus (AGE) is very contagious. The virus is spread through food, water and by person to person contact. The incubation period is 12 – 48 hours and symptoms usually last 1 – 3 days even without treatment.

Recommendations to help prevent the spread of Norovirus:

Promote good hand hygiene. This is the best way to prevent transmission of Norovirus. Hands should be washed with warm water and soap for a minimum of 20 seconds. Remind children to wash after using the restroom and before eating.

Students and staff who are experiencing symptoms of (AGE) should stay home from school until 24 hours after symptoms have stopped.

Call family health care provider for further instructions and treatment.

As always if your student needs to be on medication hopefully they can receive all doses at home. If this is not possible we will need you and your health care provider to fill out the required medication form. This form can be found under the Parent Link and then go to the Health Link.

It’s time to get ready for Kindergarten Round up. If you have
a child that will be attending Kindergarten at Rockridge this
year, please contact the child’s school office with the child’s
name and birth date, parent’s name, address and phone
number. The child must be 5 by September 1, 2012.

Parents should take their children to the round up in the school
that they will be attending. Birth certificates should be
brought to school that day. The birth certificates must be a
certified birth certificate that you receive from the courthouse
of the county of your child’s birth. If you child attends a
Rockridge Pre-kindergarten program, we have the birth
certificate on file.
