Thanks for the meeting. For the economic conditions, I am actually amazed and surprised that we are in this good of shape. I think the board has done an amazing job with what they have been given (despite a few expeditures for things I wouldn’t have spent money on, but shame on me for not being there to provide input). The proposed cuts and changes will always affect someone. In the light of the situation they seem as reasonable as can be expected. What will always exasperate me is the priorities people have, not only in this community, but the nation in general. In 1987-1988 we were in a similar finacial crisis and the board cut out the athletic program. Many may not remember this, but I certainly do as I was a senior, in sports at Rockridge, at the time. This community raised all the required funds to reinstate athletics. If someone knows the figure help me out. We had road blocks, went door to door and who knows what else to raise the necessary funds. Why is it that we will do whatever it takes to save sports but do nothing when it comes to classroom education? I would love to see no more than 16 elementary kids to a classroom at Rockridge, but that would require about 6 more teachers and more space - who is willing to go with me and collect money or do fundraisers for that?? What do we need to do in this community to get people to value teachers as much as we value athletics? It is not intended as a rhetorical question. If we could work on answers to that fundamental question then our community would surely benefit. See you at the next meeting.

thank you so much mike ruff who took the time to try and make bussing for the pre school better. it is great to see somebody try to think outside the the box and make an effort
to better something instead of just giving up and caving in.
this definately shows mike ruff has excellent leadership qualities.
i think anybody who has an interest in bettering things at rockridge should send mike a simple thank you to his e-mail.
thanks again mike for trying to make wine out of sour grapes

One blogger wrote the following message however, there was a reference to a specific individual and that had to be removed otherwise the message remains intact.
to whom this may concern,
my name is brittany. this message is about all of the things that the board could do to help with funding instead of cutting mrs. fobert’s classes. i believe that you could up the registration fee to 100 dollars. you could charge for the parking passes like between 5-20 dollars a semester or even a year. you could have students pay for groceries for home ec and other classes. you could have a registration fee for classes that require alot of money. by having student buy foods from the store they learn how to budget and that nothing is free in life. require student to bring in a ream of paper for the copiers. you could cut aids there are so many other things that u could look into cutting for the budget. remember that parents would rather see their money going to help schools. if they have to pay more than 250 dollars for they kids and to go to school they can claim it on their taxes. Thank You! i ask that you review my ideas and make the best decision possible. thank you so much for your time and for everything that you do. i know that it can be hard to take the heat when others dont understand ur hands are tied.
