About
Hello! My name is Jennifer Duyvejonck, and I am entering my sixth year of teaching, third year here at Rockridge High School. I teach the senior and advanced junior level English classes.
A little bit of history about me:
I am originally from Rock Island, and I attended Alleman High School (don’t hold it against me). I then received my BA in Secondary English Education from St. Ambrose University (Go Bees!) before moving to Belleville, Illinois, to teach at Belleville West High School. There, I enjoyed living close to St. Louis, meeting new people, and going to Cardinal games. Along with teaching, I also was a member of the softball coaching staff on first the JV, then the Varsity programs. Slightly overwhelmed by the size of the school and missing family, I decided to move back to the Quad Cities area.
Family has always been very important to me, and I’m very excited to be back in the area. I now get to see my parents, my brother’s family, and his beautiful children whenever I want! I have two nephews and one niece who live in Andalusia and it has been amazing to get to see them grow up. My sister also just got married, so I got to welcome a new brother-in-law into my family as well.
In my spare time, I like to do a lot of different things. I work part-time at John Thomas Photography as a graphic designer and production assistant. I read and write a lot (obviously, I teach English), but I’m also big into sports and being healthy. I run, bike, and just like to be outside doing STUFF. I like playing video games, but I get beat by my students a lot. I’m trying to play Guitar Hero on hard, but…it’s hard. I cross-stitch when I have time, so that’s not a lot. I like to watch movies, and my favorite TV shows are Project Runway and Lost.
So that’s a brief glimpse into me. I’m sure you will get to know a lot more about me as the year progresses!
Oh, and… I am really looking forward to this next school year!
