Kite Runner -292

So this section has a fair amount of action in it. What were your reactions to Amir’s experiences back in Afghanistan thus far? What did you think of what happened? What questions did you have? What parts struck you as most important, shocking, unbelievable, predictable…etc? Hit me with the comments and respond to those before you!

LOTF: Blog 3

WE’RE DONE! We finished the book…so let’s hear about it. What were your thoughts about the ending? How accurate were your predictions? Looking back at the book as a whole, what symbolism do you find? What do you think was the point of the book? What message was Golding sending? How does it represent its era? What does the title mean? What would you make the title be (some serious answers to this please!).

And any other thoughts you may have…let’s hear em!

Super Bowl…Love it or Hate it?

Let’s discuss…

LOTF Take 2: Chapters 7-9

Let’s do it again! (See below if you need to see instructions again….) Remember, you need to get your blogging done in enough time that people can comment on what you say BEFORE our Tuesday class….don’t procrastinate!

Lord of the Flies

Over the weekend, you read chapters 4, 5 , & 6. In class, you received the job of either beginning a blog conversation with a comment about these pages or you were assigned to continue the conversation with responses to at least two of the page comments. If you are commenting on the pages, try to specifically comment on reactions you had to the sections, to record observations you made about thematic or character development, or to specifically reference passages that you see as being important. Those of you who are responding, your task is to further conversation. You can expand on ideas you find, disagree, question, etc. Let’s generate debate and discussion!

Monster Journal

In your informal journal, brainstorm a list of “monsters” in today’s society. They may be real or fictional, but they should be things or people (not issues). Spend some time thinking of all the different types that you can–the more the better. Then spend some time considering what makes them “monstrous.” Which are the worst? Which seem tame? Explain your ideas. Then blog one of your monsters names, the explanation for why that monster made the list, and its level of monstrosity. YOU MAY NOT BLOG A MONSTER THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN BLOGGED! This is due Tuesday before class. *I made a clarifying comment below. Please read!*

Welcome Back!

Here we go! The lazy days of summer have drawn to a close and another school year is about underway. Soon the hallways will be busy again as students see friends for the first time in months and they enter into all new classes.

I will have about 126 students in class with me daily, and I’m very excited to meet, or catch up, with all of you! I hope this school year is a success…I know I’m going to do everything I can to get it there!

Let’s get it started!
