Rockridge High School Band Site

The Rockridge High School Band Winter Concert will be held on Wednesday, Dec 17th at 7:00 pm.  Call time will be 6:00pm.  There will be refreshments in the lobby after the concert.  Concert dress is all black for girls, and tuxes for guys (if you’re new to this, no, you don’t have to go out and buy a tux, we take care of that). 

This is a pretty big concert coming up.  The Jazz Band and Concert Band will be making their premier performances of the 2008-2009 school year.  Russian Christmas Music, a standard in the band repotoire, will be performed by the band.  This is an epic work, and one of the most commonly performed band pieces around this time of year.  We will close the concert with the annual favorite Sleigh Ride.  Continuing with a tradition we started last year, alumni will be invited to join the band to play the piece.  The concert band portion will be opening with a world premier performance of Movement 1 of the Riverside Suite, composed by our very own Mike Sederquist!

Auditions to determine chair placement will be held this Thursday, right after school.  All band members are required to audition, regardless of instrument.  They will audition individually for either a brass, woodwind, or percussion judge.

Thursday, Oct 9th

Night Rehearsal:  6-9

The 45 minutes of rehearsal will be Parent Night.  Come see your child perform the field show in a special performance just for a home audience.  After a run of the show, we’ll run it again, only this time you may join your student on the field!  This should prove to be a fun evening.  After the parent perfomance, we will get out of uniform and continue to rehearse.

Friday, Oct 10th

-Last Football Game, senior parents are on deck for food.  Call time is 5:00

Saturday, Oct 11th

Metamora Marching Band Competition

7:45am-Rehearsal at Rockridge

8:15am-Load Busses

8:40am-Depart

11:20am-Arrive at Metamora High School (we will make a brief stop for food on the way)

11:30am-Suit up

12:12pm-Step off for parade competition

*When parade ends, we will get out of uniform, eat, and watch bands

2:50pm-Suit up

3:30pm-Depart for warm up area

3:40pm-Warm up

4:20pm-Report to performance field (we will go as a band)

4:30pm-Perform (we’ll go ahead and do that as a band too)

5:45pm-Awards for class 1A, 2A, and 3A

*When this is over, we will remain to watch the 4 and 5A bands

9:45pm-Awards for 4 and 5A bands

10:15pm-Depart (eat before we leave, we will not be stopping for food)

12:30am-Arrive home and unload

On Tuesday there will be a special preview performance for parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, dogs, or whoever on the marching band practice field.  We will be showcasing what we have accomplished over the last four days.  This performance will be followed by a special performance by Comedy Sportz at 8:30 in the auditorium.  All are welcome to attend.
