Any Rockridge band student may become a member of our Summer Band. Our first rehearsal is on June 7th. Our 2010 Summer Band Season will come to a close on June 29th when we go to Adventureland! Your registration forms are not due until May 7th, but the sooner you can turn them in the better.

On Wednesday, March 4th the JHigh Band will be having a guest conductor. His name is Doug Phillips and teaches at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. It’s a great opportunity to have such a great conductor come out to work with us on our contest music (Valdres, Cathedral, Portrait). Please come to rehearsal with an open mind and be willing to learn! 

The Junior High Band will be having full rehearsals on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of next week. Full Chorus will be meeting on Monday and Tuesday. There will also be a partial Chorus rehearsal on Friday.

ISAT’s are coming up this week so I wanted to let everyone know about the schedule for the week.

Reynolds: Monday (full band) 8:30-9:00 AM

                Wednesday (full band) 8:30-9:00 AM

Illinois City: same as normal

Andalusia: Wednesday (full band) 9:45-10:15 AM

                  Friday (full band) 9:45-10:15 AM

Unfortunately, the Christmas concerts for tonight have been cancelled because of the weather. We have rescheduled them for Friday, Dec 19th at noon, and they will be held at the auditorium. Since we are doing it during the day, the kids can wear Rockridge apparel instead of the normal white/black concert dress.

We have talked about video taping the performance and possibly making copies so that way you can still watch the concert if you are not able to make it.

The kids have been working really hard so this should be a really good concert. Hopefully we’ll see many of you at the concert!!

Thanks for a great night 8th graders!!! You did a great job and your attitudes were awesome even though we did have to play in the rain! I hope you all had fun tonight.

We had a great turnout for our parent meetings. There were so many people there we had to use almost all of the choir room chairs too!!

Practice records will start this week!

7th grade will be turning their records in on Thursdays, so the week will run from Thursday through Wednesday. The first one is due on September 5th.

8th grade will be turning their records in on Wednesdays, so their week will run from Wednesday through Tuesday. The first one is due on September 10th.
